Situated 8 kms from Pune, Snake Park, is a well known
conservation park of India famous for housing snakes and reptiles.
The park is located in Katraj. Recently it added a zoo to it as
well. It has held many snake festivals and snake awareness programs
to let people know this dreaded creepy creature better. During the
festival of Nagpanchami, the Snake Park has held a number of
programs while discouraging mistreatment to snakes.
The park was set up in the year 1986 by Mr. Neelam Kumar Khaire. It
was later incorporated in the Rajeev Gandhi Udyan in 1999. You can
see more than 160 species of snakes. This Place is 8 kms. from Pune.
It is situated on the Pune-Satara Highway near Bharati Vidyapeeth
Campus. The straight road emanating from Swargate reaches you to the
desired destination. The prize collection is of course the
six-year-old, nine feet long King Cobra.
Entry Fee for Adults is Rs. 3 and that for Children is Rs. 2. It
remains open from 10:30 to 5:30 and remains closed on every
Wednesday.
