About :
Satara was the capital of Maratha Kingdom spread over 14lack sqKm.
The land of rich heritage has been lived by saints, leaders and
worriers suggest the glorious past of Marathas. Krishna and Koyna
are two important rivers of the reign. You can find inscriptions as
old as 200BC. There is also another famous place in Satara District
known as Wai. This is the same place where Pandavas (5 brothers from
Hindu epic Mahabharata) spent 13 years of exile.
Places of Interest :
Ajinkyatara Fort: the city of Satara is located on the slopes of
this hilly fort. You can reach to this fort by traveling 5km by Good
Motor Road. You can ecperience the beauty of Satara City from fort
atop the hill.
Char Shinti Hutama Smarak :
This landmark is situated in the heart of the city. It was renewed
recently and pays homage to the Martyrs of revolt of 1857.
Natraj Mandir
Sangam Mahuli
Is a place of confluence of Kruishna and Venna rivers. IT is
located at a distance of 5Km from Satara Road.
Sajiongad
Is located 9km from the city. One has to climb 750 steps to reach
up to the fort located 700ft above sea level.

A number of buses and trains operate from within Pune to access
