About :
Ratnagiri is one of the four districts of Konkan Reign. The place
is famous for its coastline and natural harbors. The surrounding
area is bordered by Sahyandri Hills on the west. Heavy rainfalls
makes this area green and provides it with scenic beauty. This place
is a good hangout point for both history and leisure lovers. The
place is also birth place of great Indian leader, Bal Gangadhar
Tilak-the man who started 'Swadeshi Movement'.
Ratnagiri is well known for its golden Happus (Alphonso) Mangoes
which are produced here.

Tilak Smarak: This is the home of great Indian freedom fighter,
Lokmanya Bal Ganagadhar Tilak who started 'Swadeshi Movement' in
India.
|Parashuram Temple
near Chiplun, Ganapatipule and Pavas draw many visitors.
Caves in the Chiplun
Khed, Dabhol, Sangameshwar, Gauhani Velgaum and Vade Padel are also
worth visiting.
Patit Pawan Mandir
It was the first temple built for the non-brahmins by revolutionar
leadre, Swatantryaveer Sawarkar.
Accesability :
The nearest airport is situated at Ratnagiri itself. It is about 50
kms away. The nearest important railhead is Kolhapur. Ratnagiri also
has a railhead on the Konkan railway about 50 km away, but it is not
very important. The district is well connected by roadways with
important towns such as Mumbai , Pune , Kolhapur, etc
