This historic landmark was built in 1892, by Sultan Mohammad
Shah Aga Khan, as an act of charity to provide employment to famine
hit people in the neighboring regions of Pune. This gracious
building has many lush green gardens, salons and suites which makes
it a historic monument.
This palace that once belonged to the Agha Khan, served as quarters
for imprisonment of Gandhi and his wife Kasturba during Quit India
Movement, in 1942. Situated near the River Mula, the palace is a
simple memorial to Gandhi and his life.Ghandhiji's wife breathed
last in this palace itself. The Kasturba Gandhi Samadhi / Memorial
also comes in vicinity of the Palace. There is a special shop which
sells khaadi and hand loomed textiles.
The memorial remains open from 09:00am to 06:00pm in the
evening.Lunch timings are from 12:30pm to 01:30pm. Entry fees Rs 5
for adults and Rs 2 for children and USD 2.00 (INR. Rs. 100) for
