Mulshi

This place lies in the western part of the Western Ghats mountain ridge. Mula river crosses this region from west to east. It starts from an artificial lake at Mulshi Dam and then leaves the taluka for other parts of Pune. Mulshi is surrounded by Maval Taluka in the north, Velhe in the south, Haveli in the east and Raigarh district in the west.

Mulshi Dam is the major producer of hydroelectricity in Pune. Water from the dam is used to irrigate paddies across the reign. Parts of Taluka Mulshi, especially around the dam, are covered with forest and home to diverse wildlife, including leopards.
