Junnar city is a Taluka (District) headquater. Located at the
base of Sahyandri Hills, it is situated 100km east to Mumbai and 94
km north of Pune.The place is famous for its wells and dams. The
main occupation of people here is hand made paper and woolens. The
place also holds prestigious Shiveneri Fort and famous Bhimshankara
Temple. Apart from these there is a satellite center at Arvi along
with famous Nane Ghat Caves for Buddhist pilgrims.
There are weekly markets set up during Sundays. Ganesh decorations
during Ganesha Festival is the main attraction of the place. Junnar
district is highly populated district in Pune with area of about
500sq km.
Junnar has good schools with top class facilities for studies as
well as extra curricular activities. SBP School is best among those,
which has students got placed in merit list of state board merit
list.
Shiv Chatrapati Collge & Jaihind Technical College are also
there for further studies in non-technical and technical studies
respectively.
Accessibility
- Catch a bus from Shaniwar wada, route number-17 that will
drop you at Ambegaon. From Ambegaon, you can take another bus to
Junner else take an auto rickshaw which will drop you at Junnar.
