The place is much famous for its contribution in the field of engineering. The renowned Instrument Society of India is located at this place. The Instrument Society of India honors eminent scientists and engineers who have contributed to the growth of Instrumentation culture in this country.

Every year during the national symposium the ISOI award is presented to one or two distinguished people. These awardees are chosen after shortlisting from the nominations received from the members of the society.
